GreenFeen OrganiX (GFO) is a women led, worker-owned cooperative business that graduated from Green Worker’s Cooperative Academy.
Focusing on environmental justice and waste equity, our current project is the Local Organics Collection (LOC) Pilot program where we educate local residents and businesses about organics diversion and renewable energy within New York City.
The worker-owned cooperative model means workers share equal ownership of the business, and also share responsibility for management decisions and business strategy. We operate according to the 7 principles and values adopted by the International Cooperative Alliance.
Our main purpose is to engage the community through public education, outreach and partnerships with local farms and urban gardens. GFO implements community-informed initiatives and organizes youth-oriented programming that focuses on sustainability, environmental, social and economic justice.
GreenFeen OrganiX works to continue momentum of the NYC Department of Sanitation’s Organics Curbside Collection Program (currently suspended). We work towards supporting the City’s Zero Waste by 2030 Initiative by increasing access to composting and recycling, and diverting waste from landfills.
Our cooperative business concept is to collect and process organic waste locally to ignite community based solutions that secure waste equity for Bronx residents, through a network of small scale composting facilities in the Bronx.
We believe our cooperative will not only improve the health of our soil, people, and generate clean energy, it also has tremendous potential to heal the planet. So what are you waiting for, sign up today and help us get one step closer to Green Living!
